Being and Nothingness

Since 1999, the Dodgers have made significant moves between January 1 and the start of the season - but not many.

  • On January 15, 2002, they traded Gary Sheffield for Andrew Brown, Odalis Perez and Brian Jordan.

  • On January 17, 2003, they signed Wilson Alvarez.

  • On February 8, 2002, they signed Kazuhisa Ishii.

  • On February 25, 2001, they traded Devon White for Marquis Grissom.
I note this for reference, not to draw any dramatic conclusions. In this time period, most moves of import have been made before the New Year, and none after March. But things can happen.

The Mike Piazza trade, of course, came in the month of May, but that's another story.
